There are certain risks associated with massage therapy including cupping therapy. Some side effects of massage therapy include temporary pain, swelling, bruising, allergy to massage oils. It is advisable to follow certain precautions while undergoing massage.

1. If you have a bleeding disorder, or if you are currently consuming blood thinning medications like warfarin, you should avoid massage.
2. Massage should not be carried out any part where there is a fracture, skin infections, blood clots, and open wounds.
